Happy birthday Tom!!!
where is this dvd? because he is such a contrediction, but funny. read the dr demento liner notes. read the book ‘seriously funny’. also for a person who didnt take that many pictures in public, there are some obscure books (even a newspaper in SJ -i think-about the box set) that have pictures of him in there (one is ‘on search’ from the library) I remember seeing him in a flannel shirt ( i think) also words in this interview are in the “Seriously Funny” book. He still hangs out in santa cruz..
@TEMPmichaelhansen, thanks for commenting. Please open and read the WHOLE video description for this video. After that, click on my (stupid) username to get the rest. And after having visited the channel: Spread the word!
The Tom Lehrer Wisdom Channel congratulates Thomas Andrew “Tom” Lehrer. Today, April 9, is his birthday, and in just four days the new CD/DVD is out ;D
Does Tom want that? heh heh heh heh…
@6funswede That’s great, I wish him happy birthday (even if he has no need of “anonymous affection”
!
@TEMPmichaelhansen, heh heh, you never know. I’m the one telling people to spread the word here, so that the songs (and the TV performance) will be preserved. But of course I’m just the enthusiast hacker (not to be trusted ;D
Happy 82nd Birthday Maestro, your music will live on forever!
Where can I hear the complete interview??
This is great.
Happy Birthday, Mr Lehrer. Loved your songs growing up, and re-discovered that joy about 2 years ago.
Thx for posting this i love his music
kfjc plays tom lehrer’s songs on the radio
he was a great activist on many ’causes’,war,
pollution,racisim,and weakness’ in american
policies, for which he was branded a ‘commie’,as at that time satire was not appreciated in u.s.a.
I’ve been a Lehrer fan since I was sixteen or seventeen, having heard not his album, but a fake, a knock-off of Lehrer’s first, “sung by Jack Elgin”. It was dead to rights. Later I found for sale for a couple of dollars, a first generation copy of the Lehrer original. I admire the great man more than words can say. Mr. Lehrer: so well done, thank you, sir!
@6funswede The name of the song used during the opening and ending of this clips is NOT a Tom Lehrer song! It`s a song called “Vær Glad For Det Lille Du Har” made popular by Norwegian Comedian Leif Juster! Bet you didn`t know that!
@casinobowling, yes, as a matter of fact I knew that it was the intro to that Leif Juster song, and of course I knew that it wasn’t one of Tom Lehrer’s songs
poor Cleveland
@nanbarberable Atleast their not Detroit XD
I remember seeing Tom Lehrer at Harvard house gigs in the early 50′s, never knowing whether to laugh or slither under the table lest my date see me laughing. Now my grandchildren have heard his records that I bought a slightly later, and gaze at me with new respect. I was looking for “Alma” recently in connection with a discussion I was in about bad boys, long-haired blond rock gods, and girls’ love for them. So Tom’s forever on target.
